What A Day!

We changed things up yesterday after rest period. The camp was divided in half. Campers and counselors either watched the 3 Point Shootout or the Home Run Derby. Campers competed on behalf of their team in these events. This year's winners were the best ever in Sports Camp history. One of the Georgia Bulldog's smallest guys won the entire 3pt contest. Competitors were given two balls at six different three point spots. This phenom made 8 of 12 baskets. INCREDIBLE! The home run hitter was from Kentucky. Of 12 pitches, he hit 9 over the home run fence. It was amazing. Kids were going crazy. Check out the video below.

We also played four rounds of games yesterday. I did post the team records which you'll find to the right of this post. These records were good through Tuesday's games. Notable games yesterday include the overtime game between Alabama and Harvard. Alabama won 6-5. Overtime in hockey is sudden death so  Bama went wild when they scored just seconds into OT. On the softball diamond Stanford held on to their lead. Texas had come from behind in the seventh inning. They had two men on and one out but Stanford made an awesome play in the field to save the game. Notre Dame and Brown traded wins in Dodgeball during the afternoon session. It was one of the longest games yet. It only went for seven games but it was grueling. Each team would knock a player out but then the other team would catch a ball which meant they got a player back. It went back and forth for quite a while until finally Notre Dame won the final match. Notre Dame was victorious at 4 games to Brown's 3.

I was able to steal a few minutes after our morning meeting to take a couple of special photos. Each year we gather the brothers and cousins for a group photo and this year we asked former campers who are now counselors to stay behind. Below are the results.

It's hard to believe today is June 30 and camp is half over. The teams have really come together and they are working hard. They've all had their ups and downs but they continue to work through these situations. We're so proud of the coaches, refs and the campers for all they've accomplished so far. There is a lot of competition left before the playoffs. It's hard to tell how things will play out. Enjoy your day and enjoy the photos and videos on Google!
