Things started slow Saturday morning. I'm calling it the "campfire hangover". We had such a good time at the campfire Friday evening, I believe the guys could have used an extra hour or so of sleep.
Nonetheless, they had breakfast at 8:00am, awards at 8:30am and then were on the fields and courts by 8:45 for their morning games. Saturday we awarded "Coaches of the Day". These guys exhibit care and concern for the boys and go above and beyond our expectations. Great job guys! The rest of the day followed a normal schedule of games, canteen, individual instruction, lunch, rest period, clinics, games, dinner, games, values meeting, fir tree, bed. Phew!
It was another gorgeous day at the Forest. Mid 80's and intervals of sun. A light breeze was present during the evening games. That didn't keep our competition from heating up though. Virginia and Duke played overtime on the basketball court. UVA pulled off the win 39-37. On the softball field we watched the Longhorns rally to a 10-7 win over their conference brothers of Texas AM. Did you know Texas performs a special chant before each game? They might not have the best record of camp, but they certainly have the most motivational warm up!
Communication was our topic at last night's meeting. "The strength to convey and share one's ideas, feelings and concerns." Each team discussed the term and how they can apply it in their own lives as well as to the team as a whole. Earlier this week the teams discussed, commitment, brave and caring.
Today appears to be a little rainy. I'm hoping we're outside most of the day, but we'll have to see what Mother Nature has in mind.
Have a blessed Sunday!
