And it Begins...

Tournament playoffs began yesterday. It's hard to believe we're already at this phase in camp. After canteen, the teams eagerly awaited to find out their seeds and who they would be playing in last night's games. The teams were then given about 45 minutes to meet and practice for the sport they would be playing that evening.

The games did not disappoint. They were all competitive and exciting. #9 Texas and #8 Ohio State played a tight softball game until the Buckeyes pulled ahead and rallied in late innings. The final score 8-4.

Inside the cage, #9 Duke played #8 UVA in basketball. This game went back and forth for 4 periods. The young guys traded scores in each of their periods and then the older guys would do the same thing. It was such an exciting game (and loud). In true playoff fashion this game went right down to the wire. The final score was Cavaliers 27 - Duke 25. Go Hoos!

#8 Yale and #9 LSU played an intense hockey game. They traded 3 quick goals in the first quarter and then things got real tight. Finally LSU had a shot that made it past Yale's amazing goalie. The final was 4-3 LSU.

Out on Hanes Field #5 Miami Hurricanes matched up with #12 UNC. This game was tied at 7 until late in the 4th quarter. UNC drove the ball down the field, but Miami was able to hold them. UNC turned the ball over. Miami ended up scoring with just 58 seconds left in the game. It wasn't over yet. We watched UNC make some great efforts to move the ball only to be stopped by a Hurricane interception. A crowd had gathered as this game went longer than the others. You could hear the crowd cheering TAR HEELs, TAR HEELS or see them making the "U" sign. It was a great finish to the first round of the playoffs.

This amazing sky is what greeted us at the campsite last evening. We are blessed to be situated on such a beautiful piece of land. It was a gorgeous and welcoming sight.

The campfire was so much fun. We watched 5 incredible skits and witnessed the awarding of camper of the week to some really deserving boys.

Week 2 is down and it was a fabulous one. We are looking forward to a great final week. It will be busy. Tonight we hold our King's Dominion Draft, next week we will go to King's Dominion, we'll have our annual Fourth of July Celebration, our final campfire night and then we say goodbye!
