Last night we held our annual King's Dominion Counselor Draft. This is one of the most fun traditions of Sports Camp. Earlier in the week the campers organized themselves into small "teams". These would be the guys they will hang out with on our field trip to King's Dominion this week. They needed to come up with a team name and decide who would be their first, second and third pick for the draft.
We gathered in Edward's Lecture hall after our evening tournament games. All of the counselor names of those eligible for the draft were placed on the chalkboard. Coach Alexander mixed up the cards where the team names were written. There were loud cheers as the first team was called. This lucky team had the first pick of the 2013 Draft.
The evening went on for 33 picks in the first round and 15 for the second round. Between the 1st and 2nd round we held a "dance off". A representative from each conference got up and danced to Michael Jackson's Beat It. OMG! These kids can dance. In the end, the dancer from the Northern Conference, a Brown team member was declared the best dancer for 2013.
After the big event the teams enjoyed pizza on dorm and then it was time for lights out. What an exhausting day. Fortunately today is a sleep in day. Breakfast will be served at 9am.
