Re-Energized on Tuesday
Yesterday the campers and counselors were full of energy and spunk. This is not abnormal but it seemed as though they were full of extra energy and spunk. They came to breakfast in the morning re-energized after Monday's trip. When they arrived home Monday night around 8pm the dorms were eerily quiet rather quickly. I suspect everyone was so tired they all went right to sleep. With eleven hours of sleep under their belt, they were ready to go on Tuesday.
It's a good thing they were ready because we had four sets of games planned. Over the past few years one of the most common requests from campers has been to play more games! We're doing just that and they seem to like it.
Notable games of the day include the morning handball game where Alabama and Texas found themselves in overtime. The final was 12-11 Bama. The evening game of football became an instant classic when on 4th down in overtime Notre Dame kicked a field goal to win. Yale had tied it up in the last seconds of regulation to cause the overtime. It became a real heart breaker for the Yalies.
After an extremely full day of camp the teams raced up the hill to the Fir Tree or their nightly meeting. Last night's topic was Discipline. The groups were to discuss the meaning and how they can apply it not only to their time at Woodberry but also at home, school, and in athletics. "Self discipline is the key to future success" - Coach Alexander.
